ABOUT US
CHURCH HISTORY
The Wieland Church of Christ boasts a rich history that dates back to 1895, when it was lovingly established by the pioneering Nix family. In its early days, the congregation gathered in a union meeting house, as well as in humble homes and brush arbors scattered throughout the community. The church's first dedicated building came to fruition in 1901, thanks to the generosity of Fred Hill, John's son-in-law, who donated the land. This cherished structure was brought to life through heartfelt donations of money, materials, and labor, with lumber painstakingly transported from East Texas pine mills by wagon. Over the years, the church has continued to evolve, with the current building completed in the winter of 1972, and a fellowship hall, also serving as an additional classroom, added in 1999. Remarkably, the spirit of the founding families endures, as several descendants of the Nix and Hill families remain active members of our church community, preserving a legacy of faith and fellowship that has stood the test of time. While Wieland may be a small congregation, it embodies a deep sense of family and connection. We warmly welcome you to join us and become part of our cherished church family.
STATEMENT OF FAITH
The scriptures are our sole guide in worship, encompassing prayer, congregational singing of acapella music, voluntary giving, the preaching of God’s word, and the observance of the Lord’s Supper each week. We gather for worship every Sunday and Wednesday, and we provide age-appropriate classes on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings.
